Anyone who’s ever been on the dating scene is extremely likely to have had drunken dating disaster at some point or another, and whether you’ve been the guilty party or your date has been the legless one, it can seriously put you off dating for life!

I think the reason why drunken dating disasters are so common is because dates- especially first dates and blind dates- can be so nerve wracking, so it can be really tempting to hit the bottle before you’ve even left the house.

Once you’ve had a really bad drunken dating experience though, you quickly learn your lesson and make every effort to make sure it never happens again.

If you’re sick and tired of going on dates in the usual bars and clubs, why not so things a bit differently next time round and think outside the box a little?

There are loads of more unusual date venues around that can help you to enjoy dates to remember- why not think about taking a trip to the zoo, having a picnic in the park or hiring out a boat and going for a row?

When you really think about it, the date options are endless, so next time you’re thinking about yet another drunken date, think again and try spicing things up a little!

Although it’s really important for anyone who you find yourself on a date with to have a decent personality, you do also need to be physically attracted to them.

OK, so your date doesn’t have to rival Brad Pitt or Megan Fox in the looks stakes, but if they’re facially challenged you’re not going to want to stick around for long are you?

On the other hand though, going on a date with someone who’s too good looking (or just plain fancies themself) can be just as bad. I mean, who wants to go on a dinner date with someone who’s constantly checking themselves out in the reflection of their knife?!

You just can’t win!!!

Going on a first date can be incredibly nerve wracking, and to banish these nerves, it can be very tempting to have a cheeky glass of wine before heading out of the house.

You have to be seriously careful about drinking before a date though, as turning up legless really isn’t a good look, and even if you do manage to get through the date, you’ll be very lucky to get a second one!

If you can handle your alcohol, you could be fine after just the one drink, although if you know that you’re a light weight you should probably steer clear altogether- it’s just not worth it!

When you’re trying to arrange a date, it can be really difficult to think of places to go, and this is why so many people opt for bars and pubs.

Whilst a glass of wine can be great for steadying those nerves, the thing about drinking on dates is that things can quickly get out of hand!

There a few worse looks than stumbling about the place or even worse, throwing up. And God forbid waking up to said date and realising that you’ve made one almighty mistake.

If you don’t trust yourself to drink in moderation on a date, it’s probably best not to drink at all.

Dating can be tough sometimes, especially when you end up with someone who doesn’t seem to share your interests. One way to avoid being stuck on a date with someone who is totally incompatible with you is to change where you go to meet new people. Personally, I think that if someone can’t be bothered to ask you out within at the very most a couple of weeks, then they can’t be that into you in the first place, and I think that the best course of action is to politely decline or alternatively just ignore them!

I think it’s safe to say that most of us have got blasts from the past which we’d all but completely forgotten about…until they decide to rear their ugly heads again…

Recently, I had a run in with an ex who I haven’t seen for a good 6 years, and to be fair things didn’t end amicably.

Then there I was in a bar on a Saturday night, minding my own business with friends when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turn round only to be faced with a face I’d rather not see.

Somehow, in my stupidly drunken state I ended up swapping numbers with said ex, and now I’m being pestered for a 2nd chance.

No chance- this blast can definitely stay in the past!!

So Christmas is coming, and this generally means lots of fab opportunities for singles to mingle, although if you’re anything like me this might also mean lots of fab opportunities to get a tad tipsy.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a glass of champers or 10 (especially when it’s free) although this does carry the risk of developing the old beer goggles and snogging a right minger!

Whether you’ve been single for 5 minutes or 5 years though, getting off with the fattest, greasiest gimp in the office is likely to leave you looking veryyyy desperate- so steer clear of the combination of mistletoe and mingers if you value your reputation and your self respect!!

It’s a pretty safe bet to assume that most of us will have experienced a date from hell at some point in our lives, and whilst it can be all too easy to blame yourself and sit crying into a large glass of wine and a large box of chocolates, you really do just have to accept it as ‘one of those things’.

Let’s face it, you’re not going to hit it off with every person you go on a date with and if they present you with the age-old excuse that ‘it’s not you, it’s me’, why not just take their word for it and accept that you really are just too good for them!
